Camp Weather Policy
At BEST Soccer, the safety of our players and staff is always our top priority. We closely monitor weather forecasts, radar, and field conditions throughout the day to make informed decisions regarding camp operations. While weather forecasting has improved significantly, conditions can change quickly and forecasts are not always accurate. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make the best decisions possible for all participants.
If Fields Remain Open
Light rain or passing showers will not automatically result in a cancellation. Camps and clinics will continue as scheduled provided that the playing surface remains safe and conditions allow for participation. Parents should ensure players arrive prepared for changing weather conditions, including rain jackets, extra clothing, and appropriate footwear.
Weather During Camp
If light rain occurs during camp, activities will continue whenever possible. Should weather conditions deteriorate and become unsafe for play, or if adequate shelter is unavailable, camp activities may be suspended or cancelled for the remainder of the day. In such cases, families will be notified and parents or guardians may be required to pick up their child early.
Why Isn't Camp Cancelled If It's Raining?
Weather conditions can vary significantly from one location to another. While we monitor forecasts and radar throughout the day, our coaching staff also assesses actual conditions on-site before making a final decision. If you have not received a cancellation notice, please plan to attend as scheduled. Any necessary decisions regarding participation will be made based on current field and weather conditions at the camp location.
Why Might a Decision Be Made at the Field?
There are times when weather forecasts show scattered showers or isolated storms that make it difficult to accurately predict conditions at a specific location. In these situations, participants may be asked to report to camp as scheduled while coaches evaluate the conditions in person. Decisions will always be based on player safety, field conditions, and the current weather at that time.
Thunderstorms & Lightning
In the event of thunder or lightning, all activities will be suspended immediately and participants will be moved to a safe location when available. BEST Soccer follows a strict 30-minute lightning policy. Activities may only resume once 30 minutes have passed since the last observed lightning strike or thunderclap.
If the storm passes and conditions are safe, camp will resume. If severe weather persists or conditions remain unsafe, camp may be cancelled for the remainder of the day and families will be notified regarding pickup procedures.
The safety of our players, families, and staff will always guide our weather-related decisions.
